  Method for reacting a 2-aromatic substituted 1,3-dithiane with an .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated ketone to selectively produce either the 1,4-addition product or the 1,2-addition product and the products made thereby. The 1,2- and 1,4-addition products possess cardiovascular activity, particularly antihypertensive and antiarrythmic activity.
