    The present invention relates to novel compounds of formula (I) or (II), their pharmaceutically acceptable salts and their hydrates, solvates, stereoisomers, conformers, tautomers, polymorphs and prodrugs and also pharmaceutically acceptable compositions containing them Wherein R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6 and R7 are as defined in the specification.     The present invention provides novel fluorescent compounds and covalent attachment chemistries which facilitate the use of these compounds as labels for ultrasensitive and quantitative flourescent detection of low levels of biomolecules. In a preferred embodiment, the flourescent labels of this invention are novel derivatives of the hydroxy-pyrene trisulphonic and disulphonic acids which may be used in any assay in which radioisotopes, colored dyes or other fluorescent molecules are currently used. Thus, for example, any assay using labeled antibodies, proteins, oligonucleotides or lipids, including fluorescent cell sorting, fluorescence microscopy (including dark-field microscopy), fluorescence polarization assays, ligand, receptor binding assays, receptor activation assays and diagnostic assays can benefit from use of the compounds disclosed herein.

    A method of preparing a sugar chain sample, for reducing unreacted labeling reagent in a sample solution containing a labeled sugar chain, includes (process 1) a process of bringing the sample solution containing the labeled sugar chain into contact with monolithic silica, so as to allow the monolithic silica to adsorb a sugar chain component; (process 2) a process of washing the monolithic silica with a washing liquid; and (process 3) a process of bringing the monolithic silica into contact with an eluant, so as to elute the adsorbed sugar chain.

    The present invention relates to methods for the identification of compounds in carbohydrate mixture compositions as well as the determination of carbohydrate mixture composition patterns, based on determining migration time (indices) using capillary gel electrophoresis- laser induced fluorescence and identifying said carbohydrate components based on comparing said migration time (indices) with standard migration time (indices) from a database. In a further aspect, the present invention relates to a method for carbohydrate mixture composition pattern profiling, like glycosylation pattern profiling using capillary gel electrophoresis- laser induced fluorescence (CGE-LIF). In another aspect, the present invention refers to a system for an automated determination and/or identification of carbohydrates and/or carbohydrate mixture composition patterns (e.g.: glycosylation patterns). Finally, the present invention relates to a database containing normalized migration times and/or migration time indices of carbohydrates.
