There is provided a solid metal-peptide framework (MPF) comprising or consisting of
(i) peptides based on 2 to 20 amino acids, wherein each peptide includes one or more functional groups selected from a carboxyl group and a primary amino group; and
(ii) metal ions M;
wherein in the metal-peptide framework (MPF) each metal ion M is being coordinated by at least one functional group of the peptides and wherein each peptide coordinates at least one metal ion M. Further, a method for preparing the solid metal-peptide framework (MPF) is disclosed.

Chiral metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have attracted a growing interest for their potential use in energy technologies, asymmetric catalysis, chiral separation, and on a more basic level, the creation of new topologies in inorganic materials. The current paper is the first report on a peptide-based MOF, a metal peptide framework (MPF), constructed from an oligovaline peptide family developed earlier
