The reaction of phosphine-phosphonium derivatives, such as [AuX(PPh2CH2PPh2Me)]ClO4 or [Au(C6F5)(3)(PPh2CH2PPh2Me)]ClO4, or non-cyclic bis(diphenylphosphino)methane-bridging complexes, as [Au(C6F5)(2)X(PPh2CH2PPh2)Au(C6F5)] (X=Cl, C6F5) or [AU(C6F5)(PPh2CH2PPh2)AU(C6F5)], with acetylacetonate derivatives or gold(I) compounds leads to the synthesis of non-cyclic methanide gold complexes of the types [AuX{PPh2C(AuPPh3)(2)PPh2Me}]ClO4, [AU(C6F5)(2)X{PPh2CH(AuPPh3)PPh2Me}]ClO4, [Au(C6F5)(3){PPh2CH-(AuPPh3)PPh2}Au(C6F5)], [N(PPh3)(2)][Au(C6F5)(3){PPh2CH-(AuX)PPh2}Au(C6F5)] or [N(PPh3)(2)][{Au(C6F5)(3)(PPh2CH2PPh2)-Au(C6F5)}(2)Au].
