It was demonstrated that ionicliquids are superb recyclable media for copper catalyzed reactions using catalytic olefination reaction as an example. Catalytic olefination of hydrazines of terephthalic and isophthalic aldehydes with polyhaloalkanes afforded the corresponding p- and m-divinylbenzene derivatives bearing halogen atoms and various functional groups at the double bonds. Stereochemical features of the reaction were studied.

A new general one-pot preparative method for the synthesis of 1-aryl(hetaryl)-2,2-dichloroethenes from aldehydes was developed. The method involves successive conversions of the latter into hydrazones followed by treatment with carbon tetrachloride in the presence of copper(I) chloride.
