A novel and practical method for the synthesis of diverse alpha-aryl and alpha-vinyl nitriles was developed via an iron-catalyzed sp(3) C-O ether bond cleavage with C-C bond formation in the reaction of pi-activated ethers with TMSCN. (C) 2014 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
Cyclopropyl Grignard reagents react with carbonyl compounds in the presence of diethyl phosphite to give homoallylicbromides. The reaction is effectively carried out under mild conditions in a one-pot fashion with moderate to good yields.
