1,4-Addition product was afforded exclusively by rhodium-phosphine complex-catalyzed hydrosilylation by using 2-cyclohexen-1-one and a dihydrosilane bearing an ether substituent in spite of the fact that dihydrosilanes were believed to give 1,2-addition product selectively.
The use of dirhodium(II) catalysts in the 1,4-hydrosilylation of alpha,beta-unsaturated ketones and aldehydes was explored. Dirhodium(II) tetrakis(perfluorobutyrate), Rh2(pfb)4, proved to be the catalyst of choice for this process, providing the corresponding silyl enol ethers in high yields.

The group 11 hydride clusters [Ag6H4(dppm)4(OAc)2] (1) and [Cu3H(dppm)3(OAc)2] (2) (dppm = 1,1-bis(diphenylphosphino)methane) were synthesized in moderate yields from the reaction of M(OAc) (M = Ag, Cu) with Ph2SiH2, in the presence of dppm. Exposure of aldehyde or ketone to 1 mol % BIAN-Fe(C7H8) complex in the presence of diphenyl silane affords the corresponding protected alcohol in excellent yields, under mild reaction conditions. Aldehydes and ketones are reduced cleanly in the presence of a broad range of functional groups under solvent-free conditions.
