  2-Dimethylaminomethyl-6-methoxyphenyldifluorophosphine, 1 was prepared from 2-dimethylaminomethyl-6-methoxyphenyllithium and PF2Cl. The F-19 and P-31 NMR parameters of 1 showed significant differences from those of other aryldifluorophosphines, and it is suggested that an intramolecular donor-acceptor interaction exists between the nitrogen atom of the NMe2 group and the trivalent phosphorus atom. Strong non-bonding P-N-interactions have also been observed for a coordination compound of 1 with platinum(II), [2-Me2NCH2-6-MeOC6H3PF2]2PtCl2, 7, for which a single crystal X-ray diffraction study is reported.
