    The present invention provides a solid catalyst component for polymerization of olefins obtained by allowing a solid component and an alcohol to come in contact with each other, wherein the solid component is prepared by allowing a magnesium compound, a titanium compound and an electron donor compound to come in contact with each other, and also provides a catalyst for polymerization of olefins made of the solid catalyst component, an organic aluminum compound represented by the general formula R1pAlQ3-p and an organic silicon compound represented by the general formula R2qSi(OR3)4-q. By using the catalysts in a polymerization of olefins, polyolefins excellent in stereoregularity can be obtained in high yield.

    The present invention provides a solid catalyst component for polymerization of olefins prepared by allowing a magnesium compound, a titanium compound and an electron donor compound to come in contact with each other, and having a value that a parameter of S1/S2 determined by Raman spectroscopic analysis is not less than 0.5 and not more than 10, wherein S1 and S2 are the values determined by Raman spectroscopic analysis, and S1 is a value of peak area of the strongest peak appeared in the range from 360 to 520 cm-1 and S2 is a value of peak area of the strongest peak appeared in the range from 160 to 340 cm-1. A catalyst comprising the solid catalyst component, an organic aluminum compound and an organic silicon compound is superior in hydrogen response and can produce a polymer of olefins having a high stereoregularity in a high yield.

    The present invention is a solid catalyst component for polymerization of olefins prepared by contacting a magnesium compound, a tetravalent halogen-containing titanium compound, a diester of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, an aromatic hydrocarbon and an organic aluminum compound containing a hydroxyl group represented by the following general formula (R1CO2)mAl(OH)3-m or aluminum hydroxide. The catalyst for polymerization of olefins comprising said solid catalyst component, an organic aluminum compound represented by the general formula R2pA1Q3-p and an organic silicon compound represented by the general formula R3qSi(OR4)4-q can retard the rate of forming a polymer having a low molecular weight or a low stereoregular polymer which is soluble in a polymerization solvent in slurry polymerization and can obtain a high stereoregular polymer in a high yield, and also can obtain a copolymer having an excellent property in a high yield in the copolymerization of olefins.

    An olefin polymerization catalyst comprising: (A) a solid catalyst component prepared by contacting (a) a dialkoxyl magnesium, (b) a tetra-valent titanium halide, and (c) a phthalic acid diester in (d) an aromatic hydrocarbon having a boiling point in the range of 50 to 150°C, (B) an organoaluminum compound of the formula R1pAlQ3-p, one or more compounds selected from the group consisting of (C) one or more halogen-containing organosilicon compounds selected from (C1) a halogen-containing organosilicon compound of the formula R2lSi(OR3)4-l-mXm and(C2) a halogen-containing organosilicon compound of the formula R4qSi(OR5)4-q, and (D) an organosilicon compound of the formula R6sSi(OR7)4-s. The catalyst exhibits excellent activity to hydrogen and the same catalytic activity and yield performance as conventional catalysts, and possesses the capability of producing polymers with stereoregularity equivalent to conventional catalysts.

    A propylene block copolymer with a high proportion of ethylene-propylene copolymer particles (rubber component) well dispersed in a propylene polymer exhibiting well-balanced rigidity and impact resistance can be obtained by using a solid catalyst for polymerization of olefins comprising (a) a solid catalyst component with controlled morphology, comprising magnesium, titanium, and a halogen atom, having an average particle diameter, specific surface area, and pore volume in a specific range, and having a pore size distribution in which an cumulative pore volume with a pore size of 100Å or less is more than 50%, (b) an organoaluminum compound, and (c) an organosilicon compound. The block copolymer is very useful particularly for the application of vehicle parts such as a bumper and parts for household electric appliances.
