The possible involvement of cobalt in the radical rearrangement of a thioestergroup was tested by using cobaloxime as a mimic of cobalamin. The coexistence of cobaloxime(II) species stimulates the rearrangement of the thioestergroup. A coordinative interaction between sulfur and cobalt is proposed for the assistance of this rearrangement.
