A new preparation of N-substituted 1,3-diamino-4,6-diamidobenzenes has been achieved. This synthesis affords the first N-alkylamino derivatives for which a fine-tuning of the (NRR2)-R-1 substituents should modify the reactivity of the amine functions. (C) 2008 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
