A nitrogen-containing heterocyclic derivative represented by the following formula (31):
wherein R401 to R416 are independently a hydrogen atom, a fluorine atom, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted cycloalkyl group having 3 to 10 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted alkylsilyl group having 3 to 30 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted arylsilyl group having 8 to 30 ring carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted alkoxy group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted aryloxy group having 6 to 20 ring carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted alkylamino group, a substituted or unsubstituted arylamino group, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group having 6 to 30 ring carbon atoms or a substituted or unsubstituted heterocyclic group having 5 to 30 ring atoms; one of R401 to R410 and one of R411 to R416 are a single bond and is bonded to L1;
L1 is a single bond, a substituted or unsubstituted "c+d" valent hydrocarbon group having 6 to 30 ring carbon atoms or a "c+d" valent heterocyclic group having 5 to 30 ring atoms;
If each of substituents of R401 to R416 and L1 has a further substituent, the further substituent is an alkyl group, an alkylsilyl group, a halogenated alkyl group, a phenyl group, a naphthyl group, a phenanthryl group, a biphenyl group, a terphenyl group, a chryseny group, a benzophenanthryl group, a benzanthryl group, a benzochrysenyl group, a fluorenyl group, a fluoranthenyl group, a cycloalkyl group, an alkoxy group, a heterocyclic group, an aralkyl group, an aryloxy group, an arylthio group, an alkoxycarbonyl group, a halogen atom, a hydroxyl group, a nitro group, a cyano group, a carboxyl group, a dibenzofuranyl group, or a fluorenyl group; and
"c" and "d" are independently an integer of 1 to 3; provided that L1, and R401 to R416 are not an anthracene containing group.
