摘要:
The connection of the output of a conventional split-type capillary GC (gas chromatography) injector to the region between a capillary gas chromatograph and a mass spectrometer has allowed the addition of reagents to this region for purposes of postcolumn derivatization. This combination delivers very narrow spikes of reagent which are scavenged very efficiently. Derivatizations on a peak by peak basis are easily accomplished. The derivatization reactions must proceed at or near the ambient GC oven temperature and at atmospheric pressure. In addition the reactions must be complete in less than 1 s. Bromination, deuterium exchange, and a variety of acylation reactions have been demonstrated.
