Rather u(Ni)que: Two new CHalkenylationreactions, that is CH/CO alkenylation and decarbonylative CHalkenylation, of azoles are uniquely catalyzed by Ni/dcype. These azole alkenylationreactions are successfully applied to the convergent formal synthesis of siphonazole B.

Terminal alkynes with secondary amines (dimethylamine, diethylamine, piperidine, morpholine) and CO2 in the presence of mononuclear ruthenium catalysts, afford the vinylcarbamates R1CHCHOCONR2. The reaction studies suggest, as the active catalytic species, a ruthenium-vinylidene intermediate.
