The present invention relates to synthetic saccharides of general fornnula (I): V*−[Ux+2−Ux+1−Ux]n−V−O−L−NH2 that are related to carbapenem-resistant Kliebsella pneumoniae capsular polysaccharide and conjugates thereof. Said conjugates and pharmaceutical composition containing said conjugates are useful for prevention and/or treatment of diseases associated with carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae. Furthermore, the synthetic saccharides of general formula (I): V*−[Ux+2−Ux+1−Ux]n−V−O−L−NH2 are useful as marker in immunological assays for detection of antibodies against carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae bacteria.
Electrochemical Oxidation of Substituted Amide Oximes and 4,5-Dihydro-1,2,4-Oxadiazoles

The electrooxidation of several substituted amide oximes to yield the corresponding nitriles, alcohols, and imidate was successfully carried out. The reaction products were dependent on the substituents. Additionally, 4,5-dihydro-1,2,4-oxadiazoles derived from amide oximes were electrooxidized to afford 1,2,4-oxadiazoles in good yields.

Isotopically-labelled glycans and their synthesis and use as internal standards in the analysis by mass spectrometry of glycan mixtures is described. The methods of synthesis described herein may be used conveniently to prepare libraries of heavy glycans for use in the qualitative and quantitative identification of glycans in natural samples.
The present invention provides an improved synthesis of a class of steroid saponins. Furthermore, the present invention provides a method of selectively discriminating between the C2 and C3 hydroxyl groups of a mono-glycosylated steroid saponin—a key step in the preparation of this class of compounds. Additionally, the present invention provides a range of steroid saponin derivatives, and methods of making them.
