L-phenylalanine producing microorganisms, which have been constructed by introducing a recombinant plasmid DNA inserted with a chromosomal DNA fragment controlling the resistance to a phenylalanine-antagonist obtained from a mutant of the genus Bacillus resistant to the phenylalanine antagonist, into a recipient strain of the genus Bacillus, produce L-phenylalanine in higher yield than the mutants used as the DNA-donor or the recipient strain.

A method for producing L-phenylalanine, comprising the steps of:
culturing a bacterium belonging to the genus Methylophilus which has an ability to produce L-phenylalanine and is resistant to a phenylalanine analog, in a culture medium to produce and accumulate L-phenylalanine in a culture, and
recovering L-phenylalanine from the culture.
A method for producing L-phenylalanine, comprising the steps of:
culturing a bacterium belonging to the genus Methylophilus which has an ability to produce L-phenylalanine and is resistant to a phenylalanine analog, in a culture medium to produce and accumulate L-phenylalanine in a culture, and
recovering L-phenylalanine from the culture.
