  Substitution der 4‐Positionen mit Methoxygruppen oder Halogenen verhindert diese Reaktion. Es wurde angenommen, daß nach Acylierung der Aminogruppe auch mit elektronegativen Substituenten versehene Derivate von 1 zu Fluorenen reagieren könnten. In Wirklichkeit aber beobachtet man eine Cyclisierung zum Dihydro‐oxazol 13, und nach Änderung der Reaktionsbedingungen setzt sich 1c zum Aziridin 14 um.

  A Lewis acid-mediated decarboxylative 1,2-rearrangement reaction of cyclic carbonates was developed. The selectivity of the migration of cyclic carbonates was opposite to that of the corresponding 1,2-diols under the same reaction conditions.

  A mild and straightforward route to 2,3-diarylbuta-1,3-diene is described here. By treatment with SmI(2)-Ac(2)O, acetophenone and its analogues underwent self-coupling reactions and subsequent elimination to give a series of 2,3-diarylbuta-1,3-dienes in moderate to good yields.
