Often proposed, hard to catch: The bis(platinacycle) trans‐[PtP[2,6‐(CH2)(Me)C6H3]iPr2}2] experiences α‐hydride abstraction by action of Ph3C+PF6− to yield a trans‐alkyl–alkylidene species. The electrophilicity of its PtCH}+ unit is demonstrated by ylide formation by reaction with Lewis bases, stepwise hydrogenation, and carbene cross‐coupling with N2C(H)CO2Et (see scheme).
