A new bis-N,N'-bidentate Schiff base has been synthesized, characterized, and used in the synthesis of Ru-II and Rh-II complexes, which were further applied as precursors in the preparation of trinuclear complexes. These complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductance measurements, magnetic susceptibility, FTIR, TGA, FAB-mass, ESI-MS, H-1-NMR, C-13{H-1}-NMR, H-1-H-1 COSY 2D-NMR, and electronic spectral studies. In complexes, one metal center is coordinated through azomethine nitrogen of bis-N,N'-bidentate Schiff base and the other two metal ions are coordinated through nitrogen of pyridine.
