  (EN) The present invention provides compounds of formula (I) and liquid-crystal compositions containing the compounds, in which R1 is, for example, a straight-chain or branched alkyl radical having 1 to 22 carbon atoms, in which one -CH2- group may be replaced by -O- or -CO-O-; and the group -(A1)a(-M1)(-A2)b(-M2)(-A3)c(M3)- is any one of following groups : (α), (β), (γ), (δ), (ε), (φ). The compound of the present invention is useful as a component of smectic or ferroelectric liquid-crystal compositions having a broad temperature range of a smectic C phase, particularly having a broad temperature range in a lower temperature region.(FR) La présente invention se rapporte à des composés répondant à la formule (I) ainsi qu'à des compositions de cristaux liquides contenant ces composés. Dans cette formule, R1 représente, notamment, un radical alkyle ramifié ou à chaîne droite contenant 1 à 22 atomes de carbone, dans lequel un groupe -CH2- peut être remplacé par -O- ou -CO-O-; et le groupe -(A1)a(-M1)(-A2)b(-M2)(-A3)c(M3)- représente n'importe lequel des groupes suivants: ($g(a)), ($g(b)), ($g(g)), ($g(d)), ($g(e)), ($g(f)).
