A novel Mitsunobu-based protocol has been developed for the synthesis of carbazates and dithiocarbazates through the variety of corresponding primary, secondary and tertiary alcohols and various kinds of substituted hydrazines using Mitsunobu’s reagent and CO2/CS2 system, in good to excellent yields.

A novel, solvent free and high yielding method was accomplished for one-pot synthesis of dithiocarbazates by the reaction of various alkyl halides (primary, secondary and tertiary) with variety of substituted hydrazines using Triton-B (benzyl-trimethylammonium hydroxide) and carbon di sulphide. This new method of synthesizing dithiocarbazates involves mild conditions, simple procedures and high yields of the products as compared to previously used methods.

A quick and efficient, one-pot synthesis of dithiocarbazates was accomplished in high yields by the reaction of various alcoholic tosylates of primary, secondary, and tertiary alcohols, with substituted hydrazines using an Amberlite IRA 400 (basic resin)/CS2 system. The reaction conditions are mild with simpler work-up procedures than previously reported methods.
