Novel rearrangement of 4-aroyloxy-3-bromomethyl-2-isoxazolines to 3-aroyloxymethylisoxazoles and a mechanistic study

Treatment of 4-aroyloxy-3-bromomethyl- and 4-aroyloxy-3-aroyloxymethyl-2-isoxazolines with NaHCO3 in DMF at 120 degreesC gave 3-aroyloxymethylisoxazoles in moderate to good yields.
