  Efficient ring-opening of various epoxides with hydrogen peroxide, catalyzed by antimony trichloride/SiO2, afforded the corresponding β-hydroperoxy alcohols in good to excellent yields under mild reaction conditions. The reactions were efficiently promoted by ultrasound irradiation.

  AbstractMagnetic nanoparticles (CoFe2O4)‐supported phosphomolybdate ([CoFe2O4@SiO2‐PrNH2‐PMo]) was readily prepared and identified as an efficient catalyst for ring‐opening of various epoxides with ethereal hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). The reaction proceeded under mild conditions to give β‐hydroxy hydroperoxides (HHPs) in high yields at room temperature, and the catalyst could be magnetically separated and recycled.magnified image
