Polyhedral and Spiro Platinum−Silyl Clusters Bearing Phosphine Ligands

Treatment of [Pt(L-2)(eta(2)-C2H4)] (L-2 = dppe or (PPh3)(2)) with (H3SiSiMe2Bu)-Bu-1 at room temperature afforded the corresponding trigonal bipyramidal clusters [Pt-3(L-2)(3)(mu(3)-SiH)(2)]. In the case of L-2 = dppe, the octahedral cluster [Pt-4-(dppe)(4)(mu(4)-SiH)(2)] and the spiro-type cluster [Pt-4(dppe)(4)-(mu(4)-Si)] were also generated when the molar ratio of the zerovalent platinum complex to the disilane was increased.
