  The invention provides novel benzimidazole compounds having the formuia: in which R. is lower alkoxy and R2 is halogenated lower alkenyl, halogenated lower alkoxy, halogenated lower alkylthio, halogenated lower alkylsulfinyl, or halogenated lower alkylsulfonyl. Processes for the preparation of such compounds are also disclosed. The compounds are active anthelmintic. antifungal, bactericidal and nematocidal agents and compositions containing the novel compounds for such use are also disclosed.
