A series of enamide derivatives was prepared by a simple procedure for the hydroamidation of alkynes with amides and sulfonamides. The use of such a mild base as cesium carbonate promotes the latter transformation, and the addition of catalytic amounts of iron(III) chloride has a beneficial effect in the outcome of some of the presented hydroamidation reactions. A range of indoles was also synthesized

A facile synthesis of Z-enamides via heterogeneous Au/TiO2 catalyzed stereoselective hydrogenation of ynamides has been developed. Easy to handle and inexpensive ammonium formate was used as the hydrogen source, and Z-enamides were formed in a highly stereoselective manner. The commercially available gold nanoparticle catalyst could be recycled multiple times without a significant loss of activity

We herein describe a B(2)Pin(2)-assisted copper-catalyzed semihydrogenation of alkynes. A variety of alkenes were obtained in good to excellent yields with Z-selectivity under mild reaction conditions. Mechanistic studies indicated that a transfer hydrogenation process was involved and ethanol acted as both a solvent and a hydrogen donor in this reaction. The present protocol enabled convenient synthesis of deuterium-substituted Z-alkenes such as Z-Combretastain A4-d(2) in a high deuteration ratio by using readily available ethanol-d(1) as the deuterium source.
