    An efficient strategy for the synthesis of syn 1,3-diol has been developed, employing an imidazolidinone based chiral auxiliary via stereoselective and sequential double acetate aldol reactions. The syn 1,3-diol subunit was modified to obtain the C-7 carboxylic acid side chain and further subjected to reaction with a suitable 1,4-diketone under Paal-Knorr conditions to obtain atorvastatin lactone.     A structure, comprising a base material, coated with polymer which can be compatible with reduced load against environment and living organisms and various functionalities is provided. The base material is covered with polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA). The invention also relates to a method for production of the structure comprising immobilizing the enzyme which synthesize PHA on the surface of the base material, biosynthesizing the PHA and coating the base material. The invention also provides toner containing such the structure and production thereof. Further, the invention relates to an image forming method comprising forming the image by providing such toner to the medium to be recorded.

    A structure, comprising a base material, coated with polymer which can be compatible with reduced load against environment and living organisms and various functionalities is provided.     1,1-bis((trimethylsilyl)methyl)ethene, was used as a linchpin to join two different 4-acetoxy-1,3-dioxanes. These couplings produce anti-diols, and were used to prepare a segment of the roflamycoin polyol. The anti-diol selectivity normally observed on coupling 4-acetoxy-1,3-dioxanes was found to be a function of the C2 acetal substituent, and tert-butyl was superior to methyl.
