This invention relates to a compound for an organic electroluminescent device and to an organic electroluminescent device including the same. This compound for an organic electroluminescent device including the same is improved in thermal stability and light emission efficiency. When this compound is used as a hole transport layer material, a triplet energy of a phosphorescent light emitting material is increased, thus improving the efficiency of the organic electroluminescent device.

Aromatic derivatives having an electron donating group and an electron accepting group at each end are provided. The aromatic derivatives of the present invention can emit blue or green light and may function as a host material or a dopant material. An OLED device using the aromatic derivatives is also herein disclosed.

A series of triphenylamine-pyridine chromophores is readily synthesized by bromine-lithium exchange borylation-Suzuki (BLEBS) sequence in moderate to good yields. Their electronic properties were studied by absorption and emission spectroscopy as well as quantum chemical calculations.
