Cyclic organogold Au(o-C6H4)CH2(C6H4-o)Au(mu-PPh(2)CH(2)CH(2)PPh(2)) complex, containing an Au...Au bond, was prepared by reaction of Ph(3)PAu(o-C6H4)CH2(C6H4-o)AuPPh(3) with dppe. The length of the carbon bridge of the diphosphine ligand, optimal for formation of the Au...Au bond, was preliminarily determined using molecular simulation. The structure of the complex obtained was determined by X-ray diffraction analysis and by MS, ill NMR, and P-31 NMR.
