Luminescent mesoporous materials were prepared by performing an anion metathesis reaction on ionic liquid modified SBA15, which has imidazolium chloride bridging units. The lanthanide β-diketonate complex anion was successfully anchored onto the SBA15 framework after the anion metathesis reaction.
