Disclosed is an organic electroluminescent device, wherein the light-emitting layer is composed of a non-doped neutral free-radical electroluminescent material or a neutral free-radical electroluminescent material doped in a matrix material. The luminescence of the device is from the photons emitted from the transition of doublet electrons in the outer molecular orbit of the neutral free-radical electroluminescent material from an excited state to the ground state; since there is no limitation on spin-forbidden, the upper limit of the internal quantum efficiency of the device is 100%. The neutral free-radical electroluminescent material used in the device is 1,3-bis(diphenylene)-2-phenylallyl free radicals and derivatives thereof; tri(2,4,6-trichlorophenyl)methyl free radicals and derivatives thereof; (3,5-dichloro-4-pyridyl)bis(2,4,6-trichlorophenyl)methyl free radicals and derivatives thereof; (2,4,6-trichloro-5-pyrimidinyl)bis(2,4,6-trichlorophenyl)methyl free radicals and derivatives thereof.

A series of thermally stable and highly luminescent cyclometalated tetradentate ligand-containing gold(III) compounds was designed and synthesized. The cyclometalated tetradentate ligand-containing gold(III) compounds can be used as light-emitting material for fabrication of light-emitting devices. The cyclometalated tetradentate ligand-containing gold(III) compounds can be deposited as a layer or a component of a layer using a solution-processing technique or a vacuum deposition process. The cyclometalated tetradentate ligand-containing gold(III) compounds are robust and can provide electroluminescence with high efficiency and brightness. More importantly, the vacuum-deposited OLEDs demonstrate long operational stabilities with half-lifetime of over 29,700 hours at 100 cd m

The invention discloses a long persistent luminescence emitter which has an electron-donating molecule that is stable in the radical cation state and an electron-accepting molecule that is stable in the radical anion state and from which luminescence is observed at 10 K after photo-irradiation of the long persistent luminescence emitter stops. According to the disclosed invention, persistent luminescence can be exhibited for a long time with only organic compounds without the use of any rare-earth elements.

According to an aspect, an organic light-emitting device includes: a first electrode; a second electrode facing the first electrode; and an emission layer disposed between the first electrode and the second electrode and including a host and a dopant, wherein the host is an exciplex host, which is a combination of a hole transporting host and an electron transporting host which form an exciplex, or a delayed fluorescent organic compound, and the dopant includes both a phosphorescent dopant and a fluorescent dopant.
