Substantially colourless, liquid compositions are described which are constituted by a phenolic antioxidant, or mixture of phenolic antioxidants, and at least one phosphine, the compositions being highly resistant to coloration phenomena.
These compositions are effective stabilizers for organic polymers and, when incorporated in the said polymers, have a stabilizing power which is greater than that shown by the phenolic antioxidant or mixture of phenolic antioxidants alone.

Corrosion caused by gasohol or alcohol motor fuels is inhibited by the addition of a corrosion inhibiting amount of the combination of (A) a polymer of one or more C16 to C18 polyunsaturated aliphatic monocarboxylic acid (e.g. linoleic dimer and/or trimer) and (B) a hindered phenol antioxidant, e.g. 2,6-di-(α-methylbenzyl)-4-nonyl phenol.

A process for the production of an aromatic polycarbonate, which comprises polycondensing an aromatic dihydroxy compound and a diaryl carbonate in the presence, as a polycondensation catalyst, of at least one alkali metal salt selected from the group consisting of alkali metal salts of ate-complexes of a metal element, which is silicon, germanium, stannum or plumbum, and alkali metal salts of oxoacids of said metal elements. The above aromatic polycarbonate is almost free from being colored, is also almost free from a decrease in polymerization degree when molded, and is further almost free from forming branches and insolubles.

According to one aspect of the present invention, since an additive composition includes a specific amount of α-methylstyrenated phenol, the additive composition can be mixed with a main material part or curing agent part for paint and can suppress the occurrence of a discoloration issue.
Extrudable compositions were prepared comprising poly(propylene) and a liquid additive comprising a lactam group. The compositions can comprise other optional additives that include a polyhemiaminal, antioxidants, UV light absorbers, and surfactants. The extruded compositions have higher percent elongation at break and lower Young's modulus compared to extruded poly(propylene) lacking the liquid additive. These and other property improvements make the extruded compositions attractive for forming field joint coatings for undersea pipeline applications.
