The invention relates to a transparent poly (methyl methacrylate) composition, comprising: A) neat poly (methyl methacrylate), wherein the neat poly (methyl methacrylate) is selected from the group consisting of: a homopolymer of methyl methacrylate; and copolymers of methyl methacrylate with one or more comonomers, wherein the methyl methacrylate constitutes not less than 85 parts by weight, based on the sum of all monomer mixture; and B) a brominated flame retardant in which all bromine atoms are bound to aliphatic carbons; wherein the weight ratio between the amounts of the neat poly (methyl methacrylate) and bromine in the composition is equal to, or greater than, 5:1.
