A metal-free visible-light-promoted oxidative coupling between thiols and arylhydrazines has been developed to afford diaryl sulfides using a catalytic amount of rose bengal as photocatalyst under aerobic conditions. A library of unsymmetrical diaryl sulfides with broad functionalities was synthesized in good yields at room temperature. The present methodology is also applicable to benzo[ d]thiazole-2-thiols

We report here the regioselective synthesis of aryl chalcogenides through the iridium-catalyzed meta CâH borylation followed by copper-catalyzed CâS coupling reaction with chalcogenide sources in one pot, giving the 3,5-disubstituted aryl chalcogenides with high regioselectivity and good yields.
Microwave-Assisted Efficient Synthesis of Aryl Thioethers through C-H Functionalization of Arenes

Microwave-assisted iridium-catalyzed meta C-H borylation followed by copper-promoted C-S bond coupling reactions in one pot is reported. This approach enables the syntheses of aryl thioethers in short reaction times (within 2.5 hours). The system shows good functional-group compatibility, as chloro, trifluoromethyl, fluoro, and pyridine groups are tolerated by the reaction conditions. Both aryl and alkyl thiols are coupled smoothly. The products were formed with excellent regioselectivity in meta position.
