    The present invention relates to antifouling coatings capable of being switched by using heat or ultraviolet light. Prior to switching, the coating includes an onium cation component having antimicrobial and antibacterial properties. Upon switching, the coating is converted to a conjugated polymer state, and the cationic component is released with any adsorbed biofilm layer. Thus, the coatings herein have switchable and releasable properties. Methods of making and using such coatings are also described.

    The invention relates to triazole salts, to their preparation and to applications thereof. The salts have at least one anionic triazolium group which carries at least one chlorosulphonyl, fluorosulphonyl or alkoxyfluorosulphonyl group, each of the anionic groups being combined with a proton or a cation that has a valency of less than or equal to 4. The salts are useful as synthesis reagents, as chemical-reaction or polymerization catalysts, and as ion-conducting materials for electrochemical generators, supercapacitors and electrochromic devices.

    57 A curable composition comprising (A) a compound having in the molecule two or more specific blocked carboxyl groups; (B) a compound having in the molecule two or more reactive functional groups which can form chemical bonds with the blocked carboxyl groups, and (C) a catalitic component selected from the group sonsisting of a thermal latent acid catalyst which comprises (a) (i) a compound having a epoxy group, (ii) a specific compound having a sulfur atom and (iii) a specific Lewis acid; a thermal latent acid catalyst which comprises (b) (v) a specific compound having at least one selected from the group consisting of a nitrogen atom, an oxygen atom, a phosphorus atom and a sulfur atom, (vi) a specific compound having a halogen atom and (vii) a specific Lewis acid having at least one selected from the group consisting of an aluminium atom, a zinc atom and a tin atom; and a mixture which comprises (c) (viii) a metallic chelate compound and (ix) a specific organic silicon compound or the condensate. A two component curable composition is prepared by mixing (I) a main material composition or a solution thereof comprising the compound (A) and the compound (B) or the self-crosslinkable compound (D), and (II) an acid catalyst or the solution comprising at least one kind selected from the group consisting of a Br q) nsted acid, a Lewis acid and a mixture of a metallic chelate compound and a compound having a silanol group.The curable composition of the invention gives cured products having excellent chemical properties, physical properties, weathering resistance, stain resistance and excellent appearance.
