The lead halide adducts Pb(L)I-2 (L=2,2'-bipyridine, 1,10-phenanthroline) have been prepared and structurally characterized. Each lead atom adopts a distorted octahedral coordination and shares an edge to form one-dimensional polymer. There is pi-pi interaction between aromatic rings of the interchains in PbI2(phen), this stacking causes PbI2(phen) to be more stable than PbI2(bpy) in thermal behavior.
