    The invention relates to a reinforcing strip applicable in reinforced concrete, more particularly prestressed concrete, formed by a matrix based on a thermosetting synthetic material in which preferably more than 15000 practically parallel continuous filaments are obtained. The filaments are formed from an organic polymer selected from the group of aromatic polyamides, such as polyparaphenylene terephthalamide, or from polyethylene, polyvinyl alcohol or polyacrylonitrile via solvent spinning. The matrix is formed from a synthetic material based on epoxy resin and/or bismaleimide resin. The reinforcing strip has an improved resistance to alkali. The invention also relates to reinforced concrete comprising said strips.

    Reinforcing (1) member for a pneumatic radial ply tyre, which member contains a bundle of continuous filaments of polyparaphenylene terephthalamide (2) in a matrix of a cured epoxy compound. The linear density of the non-impregnated bundle of filaments is 300-2000 decitex. The reinforcing member has an apparent bending stiffness of 1-25 PSN and its deformability is 2-10%. The reinforcing members may be used in the radial ply tyre in the, optionally folded over, belt and/or in the carcass.

    An improved ink jet recording material is disclosed comprising a support and an ink receiving layer. This layer contains a pigment and a polymeric binder comprising a structural unit derived from a monomer represented by following formula (I): wherein, R1 is alkyl, R2 is alkyl or aryl, R3 is hydrogen, alkyl or aryl, L is a linking unit selected from CO-NH, CO-O, and CO, and R4 is hydrogen or alkyl. The material is improved for mechanical strength. The finished ink jet image shows high color densities and high gloss without the occurence of cracking.
