    Breaking bilayers: Incorporation of dynamic covalent bonds in vesicle‐forming surfactants leads to the formation of responsive vesicles, which can be switched back and forth between the bilayer state and the isotropic solution using either dilution or a change in the pH value as external stimuli.

These amphiphiles form stable bilayer aggregates when they have the alkyl tail of C7 or C12. The reaction with water of the bilayer-forming amphiphiles ceases at the hydration stage and are 10–2000 times slower than those of the amphiphiles which do not form bilayers and undergo hydrolytic cleavage

    Amphiphilic derivatives composed of at least one fatty acid chain are derived from natural vegetable oils such as vernonia oil, lesquerella oil and castor oil, in which the several reactive groups such as epoxy, hydroxy and double bonds can be modified to polar and ionic groups. The head group of the amphiphilic derivative may be in the main fatty acid chain or in a side chain. The amphiphiles are useful for the formation of vesicles and micelles and for use as complexants and surfactants.

    A series of novel quarternary ammonium salt-modified chiral ferrocenylphosphine-imine ligands have been synthesized and the molecular structure of BIT5 has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The applicability of these ligands in asymmetric C*-C and C*-N bond formation was demonstrated. High enantioselectivity was obtained in the Pd-catalyzed asymmetric substitution of 1,3-diphenyl-2-propenyl acetate, with dimethyl malonate (up to 94.6% ee) and benzylamine (up to 92.6% ee).
