Multicomponent reactions in Q-Tubes™: one-pot synthesis of benzo[c]chromen-6-one and phenanthridin-6(5H)-one derivatives in a four-component reaction

Acetophenone derivatives were reacted with ethyl cyanoacetate, sulfur, and alkynes to yield either benzo[c]chromen-6-ones or phenantheridin-6(5H)-ones. The multicomponent reaction takes place under increased pressure utilizing Q-Tubes™ as a safe reactor to enhance the reaction rate.
