The first example of design and synthesis of helical molecules using a ridge−tile-like topological mode of nonplanarity is reported. The modular nature of the design of the starting glycine derivatives renders this approach general for the preparation of structurally varied and functionalized derivatives of this type of bended molecules with inherent helicalchirality.
