Oxidative difunctionalization of alkynoates via cascade radical addition, aryl migration, and decarboxylation

A cascade radical oxidative difunctionalization of alkynoates with simple ethers for the construction of tri-substituted olefins is developed. The reaction undergoes cascade radical addition to C-C triple bond, 1,4-aryl migration, and decarboxylation to deliver a variety of difunctionalized alkenes in moderate to good yields. This procedure also represents a promising strategy for the direct functionalization of the alpha-Csp(3)-H bonds in ether derivatives. (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

dehydrogenative olefination of C(sp3)–H bonds is disclosed here, by merging rhenium catalysis with an alanine-derived hypervalentiodine(III) reagent. Thus, cyclic and acyclic ethers, toluene derivatives, cycloalkanes, and nitriles are all successfully alkenylated in a regio- and stereoselective manner.
Copper-catalysed oxidative C–H/C–H coupling between olefins and simple ethers

The first copper-catalysed oxidative alkenylation of simple ethers to construct allylic ethers was successfully achieved. Different substituted olefins and simple ethers could be cross-coupled well to generate the corresponding alkenylation products. Notably, open-chain ethers were also found to be efficient coupling partners in this reaction. This reaction is likely to proceed via a radical process
