we report an approach for direct diarylations of 2-bromobiphenyls or bromobenzenes. As a result, a wide range of triphenylenes with various substituents have been synthesized in good yields. These triphenylenes are expected to be employed in the “bottom-up” synthesis of functional aromatic molecules in material science.

A novel and efficient Pd-catalyzed C–H acetoxylation is described. The approach uses R2(O)P as a directing group to synthesize various substituted 2′-phosphoryl biphenyl-2-OAc compounds.

Rings, rings, rings: A Friedel–Crafts intramolecular arylation for the synthesis of polycyclicaromatichydrocarbonsfromaryltriazenes has been achieved. Polycyclicaromatic compounds consisting of five‐, six‐, and seven‐membered rings can be prepared using this method.
