Phosphate/sulfate ester compounds that modulate and/or inhibit the activity of protein interacting NIMA (PIN1), and to pharmaceutical compositions containing such compounds are described. The invention is also directed to the therapeutic or prophylactic use of such compounds and compositions, and to methods of treating disorders characterized by hypertension, inappropriate cell proliferation, infectious diseases, and neurodegenerative brain disorders, by administering effective amounts of such compounds.
Enantiopure 3-substituted morpholines were assembled through ring-opening of a N-2-benzothiazolesulfonyl (Bts) activated aziridine with organocuprates followed by a ring annulation reaction with a vinylsulfonium salt under microwave conditions. Deprotection of the N-Bts group proceeds under very mild conditions with 2-mercaptoacetic acid and LiOH at rt.

A detailed account regarding formal aza-[3 + 3] cycloadditionreactions of tetronamides with α,β-unsaturated iminium salts is described here. This investigation uncovers regioisomeric cycloadducts that were not found in previous studies involving this formalcycloaddition and an unexpected rearrangement that led to pyridines and dihydropyridines. Both stereochemical and regiochemical issues raised
