    Designing Interfaces That Function to Facilitate Charge Injection in Organic Light-Emitting Diodes
    摘要:
    Layer-by-layer (LbL) assembly of triarylamine (TAA)-containing polymers has been applied for anode functionalizations in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). Surface work function of the ITO electrodes was significantly altered with the functionalizations, and the values changed depending on electron affinity of the substituents (X) on the TAA units. When the functionalized ITO electrodes were utilized for the conventional TPD/Alq OLED, the multilayers of P1 (X = 4-OMe) and P2 (X = none) were found to promote better energy matching at the ITO/TPD interface to reduce the hole injection barrier. Furthermore, the multilayers having heterodeposited structure of several TAA polymers provided stepped and graded electronic profiles to facilitate hole mobility from ITO to TPD, so that the resulting OLED devices can exhibit appreciably reduced turn-on voltage and higher luminous intensities.

    Polymers comprising triarylamine substituent monomers. The polymers are products of anionic or radical polymerization of monovinylated triarylamine monomers or of ROMP polymerization of monomers comprising a triarylamine component, a linker component, and a cyclic olefin that is capable of undergoing a ring-opening polymerization reaction. The resulting polymers possess hole-transporting properties and are useful as hole transport layers in light-emitting diodes or as components of photorefractive materials.

    An organic electroluminescent device is provided which has a high degree of adhesion between an anode and a hole transport layer, the device emitting light of high luminance even when driven by low applied voltages. Copolymers useful in hole transport layers in organic electroluminescent devices are also provided. Methods of producing hole transport layers for organic electroluminescent devices which can emit light of high luminance even when driven by low applied voltages are also provided, the hole transport layers having high degrees of adhesion with anode. A copolymer comprises a monomer unit including in its structure an electron-donating N,N-diaryl-substituted amino group such as an N,N-diphenylaminophenyl group, or a group having an N,N-diaryl-substituted amino moiety, and a monomer unit having at least one functional group. Also, a hole transport layer, which has excellent thickness accuracy, has an extremely smooth surface, and is very thin, can be formed of this copolymer or a copolymer having the same hole transport functional group. An organic electroluminescent device, which emits light of high luminance even when driven by low applied voltages, can be obtained by using this hole transport layer.
