    This invention concerns solid organometallic hydrocarbyloxymagnesium halides of the formula ROMgX wherein RO is a hydrocarbyloxy group of 1 to 20 carbon atoms and X is halide, and a two step process for making these halides comprising: (a) reacting an activated magnesium metal with an alkyl halide of the formula R'X, in which R' is compound containing 1 to 20 carbon atoms, in a dry inert hydrocarbon media, under a dry inert atmosphere to produce a compound of the formula R'MgX in which R' and X have the meanings ascribed to them herein; and, (b) and reacting the R'MgX compound with an oxygen containing compound, containing 1 to 20 carbon atoms, selected from the group consisting of alcohols, ketones, aldehydes and esters to produce the compound ROMgX. When the oxygen containing compound is 2-alkyl substituted, the products are hydrocarbon soluble.

    The present invention provides an olefin coordination polymerization catalyst and use thereof. The composition of the raw materials of the olefin coordination polymerization catalyst comprises: a main catalyst and a cocatalyst, wherein a molar ratio of the transition metal halide in the main catalyst to the cocatalyst is 1:10-500; and the composition of the raw materials of the main catalyst comprises a magnesium compound, a transition metal halide, an alcohol having 2 to 15 carbon atoms, and a star-shaped organosiloxane compound in a molar ratio of 1:1-40:0.01-10:0.001-10; and the cocatalyst comprises an organoaluminum compound. The above olefin coordination polymerization catalyst is used as a catalyst for ethylene polymerization, propylene polymerization, and copolymerization of ethylene or propylene with an α-olefin. The olefin polymerization catalyst of the present invention has good catalytic activity.

    The present invention is to provide a composite carrier, which is spheric particles obtainable by contacting magnesium halide with one or more electron donor compounds to form a solution, then mixing the solution with silica material having an average particle size of less than 10 microns to form a mixture, and drying the mixture through spray drying process. The present invention is also to provide a catalyst component comprising said composite carrier. When the catalyst component is used together with a cocatalyst component in propylene polymerization, it exhibits higher polymerization activity and stereospecificity, and can be used to prepare high impact resistant ethylene-propylene copolymer having high ethylene content.
