A copolymer represented by the following general formula (I):
wherein R¹ is hydrogen or a hydrocarbon residue having 1 to 20 carbon atoms; R² is hydrogen, a hydrocarbon residue having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, furyl, pyridyl, nitrophenyl, chlorophenyl, or methoxyphenyl; ℓ is an integer not smaller than 2; m is an integer not smaller than 1; and n is an integer not smaller than 2; and an electroactive polymer obtained by doping the copolymer with an electron acceptor.
A hole transporting material is constituted by a compound represented by the following general formula (1):
wherein R¹, R², R³, R⁴ and R⁵, which may be the same or different, are each independently hydrogen or a hydrocarbon residue having 1 to 20 carbon atoms; Ar¹ and Ar² are each independently a divalent hydrocarbon residue; ℓ is an integer of 0 or more; m is an integer of 1 or more; and n is an integer of 2 or more.

This invention relates to a novel hindered phenol compound of Formula (I) (wherein the groups R and R' are as defined in the specification), preparation thereof and use thereof as an antioxidant. By using the hindered phenol compound of this invention as an antioxidant, it is possible to produce a lubricant oil composition exhibiting excellent oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures.
