A convenient and efficient method is described for the synthesis of alkoxy substituted 2H-chromens by L-proline catalyzed reaction of salicylaldehydes with diketone in alcohol. A new method for the synthesis of substituted 2H-chromenes catalyzed by lipase was reported in the first time. Besides providing a simple and efficient method for the synthesis of 2H-chromenes, this study extends the applicability of lipase in organic synthesis.
