  Sensitizing dyes for photographic materials are disclosed. The dyes have the formula: ##STR1## R.sub.2 is substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or substituted or unsubstituted aryl, and R.sub.1 and R.sub.3 are each independently substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, at least one of R.sub.1 and R.sub.3 having at least about 5 carbon atoms.
