    An ink set comprising a yellow ink containing at least one yellow dye, a magenta ink containing at least one magenta dye, a cyan ink containing at least one cyan dye and a black ink containing at least two kinds of dyes as a minimum constituent element, in which an oxidation potential for each of the yellow dye, the magenta dye and the cyan dye is more electropositive than 0.8 V (vs SCE) and/or each of the inks is an azo dye containing at least one heterocyclic ring in a molecule or a phthalocyanine dye containing at least one heterocyclic ring in a molecule, and the black ink contains a water soluble long wavelength dye L and a water soluble short wavelength dye S having three or more azo groups in one molecule and having a naphthalene skeleton, and a ink jet recording method utilizing the ink set.

    An inkjet recording method includes forming an image on an inkjet recording sheet with an ink set, wherein the inkjet recording sheet includes: a support; and a colorant-receiving layer provided on the support, the colorant receiving layer including inorganic particles, a water-soluble resin and at least one boron compound selected from the group consisting of boric acid, borate and borax, in which the ratio of the boron compound to the water-soluble resin is from 5 to 14% by mass, wherein the ink set including at least one inkjet ink including at least the boron compound and a water-soluble dye, and wherein the image is formed on a side of the inkjet recording sheet at which the colorant-receiving layer is formed.

    An ink composition is provided which does not undergo decomposition or fading of colorants even when stored under high-temperature environment. An ink composition which contains a compound represented by the following general formula (1) and a humectant, wherein the content of the compound represented by the general formula (1) is from 0.1% by mass to less than 7.0% by mass, the content of the humectant having 3 or more hydroxyl groups is 8.0% by mass or less, and the molar ratio of the humectant having 3 or more hydroxyl groups/the compound represented by the general formula (1) being less than 15.0; wherein Ar 1 and Ar 2 each independently represents an aromatic hydrocarbon ring group, a non-aromatic hydrocarbon ring group, an aromatic heterocyclic group, or a non-aromatic heterocyclic group, A 1 and A 2 each independently represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent, Y represents —OM or —NR 1 R 2 , M represents a hydrogen atom or a metal ion, and R 1 and R 2 each independently represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an alkynyl group, an aralkyl group, an aryl group, or a heterocyclic group.
