Synthesis of Hydrazide-Containing Chroman-2-ones and Dihydroquinolin-2-ones via Photocatalytic Radical Cascade Reaction of Aroylhydrozones

A general and efficient visible light photocatalytic a-amino carbon radical -based cascade reaction of aroylhydra-zones has been described. This protocol tolerates a wide array of alpha-silylamines and aroylhydrazones to afford the corresponding diversely functionalized hydrazide-containing chroman-2-ones and dihydroquinolin-2-ones in generally good yields with excellent diastereoselectivities.

An approach to pyrrolo[3,2-c]quinolones is described which relies on an intramolecular azomethine ylide alkene cycloaddition reaction. Critical to the success of this reaction was the requirement for alkylation of the aniline nitrogen, in the absence of this substituent a decarboxylative-Michael addition pathway was observed.

ZnBr 2 catalyzed domino Knoevenagel-hetero-Diels–Alder reaction: An efficient route to polycyclic thiopyranoindol annulated [3,4- c ]quinolone derivatives
4-c]quinolone derivatives were synthesized via domino Knoevenagel-hetero-Diels–Alder reactions of indoline-2-thions and novel N-acrylated anthranilaldehydes in refluxing ethanol as a solvent in the presence of 20 mol% ZnBr2 as a Lewisacid catalyst. All reactions proceed with high yields with excellent regio- and stereoselectivity.

Synthesis of Tetrahydropyrazolo[4',3':5,6]pyrano[3,4-c]quinolones by Domino Knoevenagel/Hetero Diels–Alder Reactions
An efficient Lewis acid mediated domino Knoevenagel/heteroDiels–Alder (DKHDA) reaction of pyrazolone derivatives with N-acrylated anthranilic aldehydes was developed, which afforded functionalized tetracyclic tetrahydropyrazolo[4',3':5,6]pyrano[3,4-c]quinolones. The products were formed in good yields and with excellent regio- and stereoselectivity in favor of the cis-configured isomer.
